Neuroscape TCG Rarity Guide
Card Rarity in Neuroscape
From basic commons to chase X/100, here's what to know about card rarity in Neuroscape
Neuroscape's first set (Genesis) contains 255 cards, but not all of them are created equal. Whether you're cracking packs, hunting singles, or building a budget deck, understanding the rarity system will save you time, money, and confusion. Here's a breakdown of every rarity tier in the game (so far).
So how do you know what rarity a card is? Looking at the bottom of the card will reveal 3 key indicators:
- Rarity Icon - The color of the icon
- Rarity Indicator - The letter to the right of the rarity icon
- Faction Icon - The color of the faction icon
Common (C)
Commons are the foundation of the game and the most frequently pulled cards in any booster pack. Each Genesis pack contains 10 commons, so you'll be seeing these constantly. Don't let the low rarity fool you though — some of the most competitively important cards in the game are commons. Cards like Digital Spectre, Scrapper, and Overload Mk. I are commons that see heavy play across multiple deck archetypes.
Commons are identified by a C indicator with bronze rarity and faction icons. For budget builders, commons are where you start — and often where you finish.
Uncommon (U)
Uncommons sit a step above commons in both scarcity and, generally, power potential. Genesis packs include 3 uncommons per pack, making them noticeably less frequent than commons. Uncommons tend to be where you find versatile support cards, solid mid-cost characters, and utility programs that fit into multiple strategies.
Uncommons are identified by a U indicator with silver rarity and faction icons. These cards are often playable, reasonably priced on the singles market, and easy to trade for.
Rare (R)
Every Genesis Unlimited booster contains 1 rare or quantum rare, meaning rares are in the primary chase slot in the pack. Rares are typically strong characters, high-impact programs, or key build-around pieces. These cards are often not powerful enough to anchor entire deck strategies, but available enough that competitive players can acquire playsets without breaking the bank. Many decks rely on critical rares to support their strategies.
On the singles market, rares range from under a dollar for less-played cards up to several dollars for high-demand staples. They are identified by a R along with a foil gold rarity icon and faction symbol. On top of this, their gear ports are also foil gold.
Quantum Rare (QR)
Quantum Rares replace the rare slot in a pack at a lower rate, making them the most powerful build-around cards in the set. They occupy the same slot as a standard rare, so opening a QR instead of a regular rare is always a bonus. QRs are typically the most powerful and most sought-after competitive cards in a deck.
Visually, Quantum Rares are identified buy their QR and a distinct rainbow foil treatment on their rarity icon and faction symbol. Expect to pay a meaningful premium for QRs on the singles market compared to rares.
Art Rare (AR)
Art Rares are alternate art versions of existing cards featuring different or extended artwork. They don't have increased power over their base versions (the card text is identical) but they're highly desirable for collectors and players who want to bling out their decks. Art Rares can appear as surprise pulls in packs and are distinctly different from the standard art version of the same card.
These cares are identifiable by their AR next to their rarity icon.
Sourcecode (Serialized)
This is where Neuroscape gets seriously collectible. Sourcecode cards are serialized holofoils. Each one has a unique number printed on it, meaning there are only a set number in existence across all packs ever opened. The original GENESIS_KS set featured 3 serialized Sourcecode cards that are X/100, and even included a 1-of-1 version of The Singularity — the rarest card in the entire game.
Genesis Unlimited introduces 3 new exclusive Sourcecode cards that can only be found in this print run, adding to the collectability of the Unlimited edition. Pulling a Sourcecode is an extremely rare event, and these cards command by far the highest prices on the secondary market.

Token Cards (T)
Neuroscape, or at least the Genesis set, is markedly short on token cards. Unlike Magic the Gathering, tokens are not found in packs. Instead, the one official token "Drone" is found exclusively in the Nanobot Collectors Box (only available through the Kickstarter).
Quite a few cards in the game generate token cards. RAM Channel decided to create proxy (not official Neuroscape, LLC products) that can meet the needs of players looking for a fun and unique way to represent token cards in the game.
Other Rarity Considerations
Godpacks
The godpack isn't technically a rarity. Instead, it's an ultra-rare pack variation. Rather than pulling standard booster pack contents, a godpack is filled entirely with holofoil cards plus a serialized card. The odds are extremely low, but they do exist in the GENESIS_KS print run. The community treats them as the holy grail of Neuroscape pack opening.
Prototype
Cards released as a result of the Kickstarter all carry a red Prototype stamp. These won't be reprinted in unlimited boosters, making them collector items with a dedicated community of collector enthusiasts.
If you see a card with the red Prototype designation, that's a card from an earlier print run that won't be appearing in sealed again. On RAM Channel, these cards are also identifiable by their GENESIS_KS set filter.
Promo Cards
Promos sit outside the standard rarity structure entirely. The Genesis Unlimited Master Diver Kit, for example, includes an exclusive holofoil alt art promo of Astra, Cosmic Kitty that can't be found anywhere else. Box topper promos come with display purchases. Event promos may be distributed at game stores or tournaments. Promos are generally legal for competitive play but limited in availability by design.

What Does This Mean for Buyers?
If you're playing competitively, you'll mostly care about Rares and Quantum Rares. The good news is that the singles market for Neuroscape is still young and accessible. Most competitive rares won't cost you much at all, and buying singles directly is far more efficient than cracking packs to complete a playset.
If you're collecting, Sourcecode cards and Art Rares are your targets. With Genesis Unlimited dropping in August 2026, now is a great time to get in before the market matures.
And if you're just getting started, commons and uncommons will carry you further than you think. Build your deck, learn the game, and let the rares come naturally.
